Yeast infection is mainly triggered by an excess growth of a unique kind of a fungus known as Candida, commonly recognized as yeast. Small harmless quantities of yeast are generally present inside the mouth, digestive tract as well as inside the vagina. This infection crops up as soon as the body’s pH concentration begins to change due to some outside influence. For instance, use of antibiotics for the treatment of an infection, excess weight gain, menopause, use of steroids, diabetes, wearing of close-fitting underwear made of lycra or nylon, HIV infection and pregnancy are some of the factors that are responsible for causing yeast infection in women.
Symptoms of yeast infection are severe itching in the vagina region, usually accompanied with burning sensation, which intensifies during urination. Sometimes there will be a white creamy discharge. Another symptom of yeast infection is intense swelling.

If it’s in the vagina region, then it will appear as a whitish odorless discharge, which is observable from outside together with severe vaginal pain and itching in the course of sexual intercourse or urination. If it forms between the toes and finger areas, then it appears as a desiccated red patch of skin that causes an itchy sensation.
